London, UK. 20 July, 2023. Striking National Health Service consultant doctors picket University College Hospital as they begin a 48 hour strike to demand an above-inflation pay rise. The strike, from 20 July to 22 July is the first by consultants since the 1970's and will see their services reduced to emergency cover only.
