Activists from a coalition of groups hold a Save Our NHS protest outside the members-only Carlton Club as Tory leaders attend a luxury dinner celebrating 75 years of the National Health Service. The campaigners point to the below-inflation pay rises offered to NHS staff, the estimated 150,000 workforce shortage and the increasing role of private providers as evidence that the Conservative Party seek to run down the NHS for profit. Many NHS staff will start a five-day strike from July 13-18 over pay and working conditions.
