In the Great Court of London’s British Museum climate activists from BP or Not BP? stage an aquatic themed protest, featuring elaborate costumes, song and dance routines and a giant sea monster—the BP Kraken—smuggled passed security, against funding by oil company BP of the museum’s ‘Sunken Cities: Egypt’s Lost Worlds’ exhibition.
Ironically, rising sea levels, and the potential creation of future sunken cities, are one by-product of the fossil fuels produced by the exhibit sponsor and the activists highlighted the role of BP in hindering and delaying the serious action scientists say is required to combat the climate emergency. - RF
