London, UK. 12th May 2021. Climate activists hold a messy protest with lots of fake oil, money and greenwash outside the London HQ of oil giant BP as the company holds its AGM. Despite its stated ambition to reach ‘net zero’ greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 activists point to the small proportion of renewable energy produced by BP and note that the company plans to increase extraction of fossil fuels. It’s commitment to combating the climate emergency, they say, is merely a ‘greenwashing’ of its dirty reputation.
